Help: what is this opening for?

Higher model trucks have garage door openers/ sunroof buttons there i think..my truck has that aswell

its for the passenger air bag on/off indicator and passenger seatbelt light. they just use that plastic filler to cover the hole for trucks that dont have passenger presence systems.

The garage door buttons are above that on the horizontal part from the factory. I just took that whole plastic assembly(lights and all) from a newer truck and plugged it into mine to get the garage door buttons since mine didn't come from the factory with them either. It was literally plug and play and it works like it came that way too

Newer as in what? 09? What can i get as far as a part number?? How did you find one?

I have no idea on a part number. Not necessarily a newer truck either just one that had it from the factory. My dad has a 2010 LMM and since he doesn't have a garage door much less know what the buttons are for I just took his. I also took his factory Bluetooth also but that's a different topic.
I would look in a wrecking yard or a part number shouldn't be hard to find. If I get a chance I will attempt to find one.

My 08 has the 3 garage door buttons there. I am sure Henry (ripmf666(Creatures of the Night Performance)) could help you out finding what you need.
