What is this knock?????

Where the hell is this god awful knock coming from? It's coming from inside the bell housing. I'm guess torque converter bolts? LOUD AS A SOB!

I think you have broken your flexplate...

It just started out of no where....I drive it every day no problems. Pulled into the drive way and heard this noise. What do I do if it's the flexplate? Any way to tell? Does that mean to not drive it PERIOD anymore?

Put a new flexplate in it. Stock or Billet, but preferably billet. Dont drive it faster than an idle

x3 flex plate sorry man i would thorw a billit one in it. and the flex plate bolts will make a man out of you geting thos sucker to come free

Yep they are very tight-some where around 260ftlbs. Make sure and replace them with new ones when you put it back together.

i've broken 4 stock ones, always drove them for weeks before replacing finally upgraded to a suncoast billet with the new motor

It sounds terrifying. I'm currently pulling the starter and going to get a big ass socket to turn the crank. Going to check for cracks. I don't know if I should try to drive it 140 miles to my buddies shop that has a lift or get a roll back. Grr

you wont see anything from the starter hole don't waste your time drive it easy and pull the trans

No visible cracks through the starter hole. Converter bolts are fine. Think I cracked the center of the plate? I'm going to have it towed anyway regardless.....I really thought I'd be able to see a crack. Damn. I hope this is the culprit of that noise.

Yeah they were still tight. I didn't think it was the torque converter bolts afterwards seeing that it didn't have a ratteling sound.

I broke mine once on my old blazer. Snapped a circle out right in the center of the bolts. So yes with that noise id say theres your problem bud. Dont drive it, pull the trans and replace that flexplate...

I broke mine last year too, sounded like the motor was coming apart, broke it around all the bolts and between every hole!!!!!

I wonder if a broken flexplate would explain the horrible vibration I was having as speed increased near 70 +mph. Converter was locking up HARD too.

How much does a stock flex plate cost? I have seen the prices of the ats and suncoast and was wondering how much difference is there.
