I was wondering what everyone else is getting on there oil pressure gauge? I didn't really pay attention before but think I have a serious problem. When my truck is at idle cold its at 60 and as it warms up it gets lower and lower until its in the red when am at idle at a light. And even a couple times I was driving for a hour or two and I would stop for a min. And my truck would give me a oil pressure low alarm. Has anybody else had a problem like this??

yep what he said good chance it has fuel dilution. if not throw a gauge on it and see what reading you get.

pull the dip stick and see if its way overfull. take a papertowel and wipe dow the stick and see if the towel start showing wet but no dark like oil way above the full mark. or drain the oil and see if its a lot more then 10 quarts. I have seen a full five gallon bucket come out of a duramax with bad injectors

My oil pressure dropped when my injectors went bad. The oil reading was well past the full mark by about 2". I could smell diesel in the cab also.

Damn... sounds like injectors then... so what does everyone usually do? You guys usually get bigger injectors or you just usually replace what you can? Is there any way of preventing it from happening again?

I got the dealer to goodwill them 2 years ago or else I was going bigger. Keep up on changing the fuel filter regularly or invest in a lift pump. Try and use a good additive to help lubricate the injectors also.

replace all eight with new lines and all the seals and might as well do the cup seals for piece of mind. merchant sells a great with with everything you will need for the entire job for 2960 IIRC, + a 1200 dollar core which gets refunded. its the body of the injector and that cracks, filter and lift pump don't help this problem. now if you had a bad balance rate issue and smoking at idle it might but the cracking body is a weak design.

I've had it for about 10000 miles and it has 160000 on it the last owner didn't kno if the injectors ever got done. Where's a good place to take it to get diagnosed for sure. I just don't want to get them replaced and spend all the money if its not it. Or should I jusy man up and do it. Should I get bigger injectors since am in there or no and stick with stock?

it should be really evident with a white paper towel down the dipstick if there clear liquid getting on the towel and not dark engine oil. or drain the oil and smell it and see if its got alot more then half a 5 gallon bucket in there. 10 quarts should be right at half a bucket full.

You think it will be ok for me to drive it 10 mile round trip a day. till I can get it done it takes a wile till my oil pressure gets to 0. Or is it really bad period.
