Looking at painting the block and upper valve covers one nice color, maybe the heads too and maybe some of the accesory brackets. Then painting the other things black and other things just cleanign up nice.

If anybody has some pics or info on which parts to alter the colors with the switch it up nice and make it look good feel free to share.

Also dont know which brand and type of paint as well as painting process i should go through.

Kinda leaning towards the CAT yellow or orange right now. But I like sall of the colors.

Thanks guys.

Might leave the block black then and just do the other parts. Not sure, Ive got some time to do it.

Im working on stripping things off the frame to get it all painter up purty. Any good suggestiosn for getting this thing prepped, I have simple green and a steam cleaner but im sure there maybe is a better way.

steam cleaner will work well , then use a wax remover to prep or acitone works as well , just a tip use a quality paint .... i have rattle canned alot of stuff and it works good but does not last , another thing that works good on a frame is the rattle can spray on bed liner from duplicolor . pretty tuff stuff and has a textured black finish ... about 6$ a can

I say dont paint anything but the block, just clean everything up nicely. If there is one thing Ive learned from painting motor parts that most likely are going to have to be removed to work on various parts is that they get messed up.

I work on a lot of GEN III chevy stuff and Ive painted everything on those motors, the accessorie brackets always end up chipping from getting tapped with the end of a ratchet while working on something else, or oil/residue gets in the little crevices that are impossible to clean. The valve covers get scratched by the coil pack brackets, or in the dmax case all the damn injectors lines etc, the covers are bound to get scratched at some point. Once something gets scratched it seems to peel a lot easier then it looks worse than if it was just nice and clean.

If I ever have to build my motor the block will be powder coated by a buddy of mine black then machined, the rest will be cleaned thoroughly in a heated parts washer. A motor that is just nice and clean IMO looks good and a lot less maintenance. Just blast it off regularly with hot water and you're good to go.
