What About All The Other O-rings/gaskets?

It's a conspiracy!

I ordered a couple gaskets to keep the ball rolling on the short block until the last hard part came in. The last hard part should be in this week so i am looking for all the o-rings and gaskets... Call GM Dealer they don't have a "build set" of gaskets/o-rings they are asking me to make a list? Ok...

So i call a commercial truck center and ask them for the same and they don't have it either. If you offer your truck VIN to a commercial shop it will pull up the GM catalog/files, heading you off at the "GM pass". I am not trying to be cheap... just smart with my hard earned money. I can't stand buying (i didn't) 8 copper injector washers for $40 plus tax:eek::eek:

Anybody get past this and order the ISUZU "build set" for our trucks? My thinking is to secure a VIN from an ISUZU with like motor and ask for that "build set".... The 6.6 is not a GM only ISUZU built motor is it?

Ideas?:)

My understanding was that it was.

yea roadblock after roadblock... prollem is i am a "pusher", "ram rod", get 'er done guy. I subsequently piss people off.... until i am pushing on an issue that is to that persons benefit! Then it's ok.

Anyway off the negative rant.

I'll figure out a way... gonna go see the Diesel guy across the street, he does nothing but service vehicles. I'll see if i can cross up the parts/motors.

they (the engines) I believe are also in those little cab-over Isuzu pickups that you see some landscape companies use with a dove-tailed flat bed on them or an enclosed box for hauling shat. I *think* they are anyways. Maybe they are just in GM vehicles though. Wonder if you could get a "build set" for a med. duty truck?

just thinkin out loud here....

The injector copper washers are only a little over $2 ea.

The upper o-rings are $8ea. Since they are basically dust seals, metric washers at a local parts store will fit about $0.75ea.

Just bought this stuff last week from GM.

I would definitely buy the o-rings for the water pump to t-stat housing, the one for the water outlet & also the water bypass to the EGR heat exchanger, as they are a pain to replace if they ever leak. All of these seemed to be stretched out (too long) on my motor. I was afraid to reuse them.

Thanks Lonnie,

After some hunting and no resolution my Brother said the same, he thought he may even have a large portion of them in surplus. I must admit the $5 washer was actually $4 and change and full retail from GM.

To add to your list another odd ball is the ring at the inline oil cooler, driver rear of block IIRC.

I'm good, when i got resolution i quit hunting. I only need 6 or 8 o-rings from them and a few gaskets.

Thank though appreciate it. :0
