Info: Westgate won't open

I have a 6.6 Duramax Diesel 2002 380000 klm
Iam getting smoke on a ideal .I found out my westgate wont open on my turbo.I took off vacum unit and unsiezed it but it must haved seized back up.I phoned dealer to get anew vacum unit and they said you cant just buy it you have to buy the turbo too at $4500.Iam looking for info on buying another vacum unit or should I go farther in and check vacum system?

I doubt the wastegate is the reason that you have smoke at idle,but you can just buy an aftermarket one like Banks for pretty cheap.

The smoke is very stronge diesel it will make your eyes water.The westgate floper is closed and giving power you cant hear the whisle of the turbo and black smoke .what do you think

Sounds more like an injector issue than a wastegate problem. I would have a balance test done on the injectors and check the oil for diesel.

The wastegate actuator is pressure activated. It has nothing to do with idle smoke. It will only open at higher boost levels. Not at idle. I second getting your injector balance checked.
