Anybody using a GT4202r Turbo kit? I have an oil leak coming from around the drain pipe on the bottom of the turbo-it was leaking there before I built this engine, I replaced the gaskets and its leaking again-only when you shut off the truck?wtf? It kinda looks like it may even be coming out from the exhaust side of the turbo housing by the v-band clamp. Any ideas-there was no oil inside the turbo housing when I had it off. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen? The guy I talk to at PPE where we bought the kit is out till monday.

Mine leaks at the oil drain tube also, I have replaced my gasket twice now and it still leaks. It is just so damn hard to get those bolts really tight enough to crush the gasket!!! I am going to make a tool to get in there better. I believe an old distibutor wrench will work, i think I heard that from Pat.

its not the gaskets. ive done a few of thes and its the tube where they weld the collar onto it to make it longer to accomodate bigger turbos. Had to braze mine.

I use a pivoting head ratchet wrench and I tighten them before I bolt the turbo to the pedestal. It's the first part of the turbo that I secure to the truck.

I've reused gaskets several times without leaks.

Might help somebody..

I know this is an old thread but curious as to any other fixes. I have the same issue and looking for as much info or different possible repairs.

On gaskets that are a pain to get to, or get the bolts tight, I use a spray contact cement on both sides to help hold the gasket in place & help it seal.

Something else to consider is the GT4202R needs to have the oil supply restricted, per Garrett.

Cat also has some new turbo gaskets that are metal with a rubber seal. I can't remember the part number off hand.

I torque each side down little by little and haven't had a problem. Those gaskets do sound nice though Albert.
