Run down of the truck. 05 crewcab LT dually. 4wd. 87K miles. 4inch down pipe back exhaust. Husker egr plate and fingerstick. AFE LLY Mouth piece. Carrier bearing and U joints replaced about a year ago, if that. Right rear axle leaks, believe there was a "gash" that was on the axle tube. Probably need to get a new axle housing to fix it.

Every once and awhile (more often than not now), I get this weird whining type sound. Only does it when it does make the sound under acceleration. But at times it doesnt seem to get louder or stay with the RPMs when its doing it. And it only does it a certain RPMs. Not like it starts when i hit the throttle and goes the whole way, sometimes it will die off.

Its hard to describe the sound, and even harder to record it.

I was thinking at first maybe wheel bearing/hub. Truck needs a front end alignment bad!!!

Hoping its not the turbo, and if it is, what should I do. No I have not checked for play on it yet. Probably should do so.

Doubt its the rear end even with that leak.

Tell me what you guys think!

Can you "feel" it? Do you like burnouts? That what my truck did when I stripped the teeth off my planetaries in the trans. From doing rolling burnouts.

can you tell if it's coming from the front of rear of the truck? maybe left or right side, can you pop the hood and have someone brake stall the truck and see if the sound is coming from under the hood?
