Weight reductions

Ok, besides the standard crap what have you guys removed to save weight?

I still need a daily driver with some creature comforts but I am looking for things that may be added weight that can end up in the scrap bin or "to be replaced later" pile.

Anyone know how much the A/C compressor weighs and how easy it would be to reinstall and recharge the A/C system at a later date?

In the summer you could pull the 2nd battery.

Other than that.... tailgate, spare tire and winch, rear bumper to a rollpan, rear seat, sub boxes if you have them.

All done plus the following:

2 rear springs
tow hooks
jack
spare tire carrier hardware
EGR system
skid plates
mirror delete panels for the track

Im thinking of taking out fog lights, A/C, and anything else that will save a pound or two.

could you run a 'half pint' battery on race days?


the smallest 12volt battery you can find. like a lawn mower batt. swap it at the track. or will the truck make a pass with no battery?


get a slide out removable radio too.

Can you safley run without the extra 3.5 quarts?

how about a fixed position drivers seat. or gut the mechanical parts from your stock seat.

remove carpeting(if you have it), firewall mat,roof liner,tar on the floor(if you have it), rear seat, interior plastic panels...back in the day when i was runnin a honda civic i was able to lose 350lbs by cleaning out the interior! dont kno how extreme u wanna go with weight reduction...tube frame the rear end and run fiberglass body panels! the ideas are unlimited!

Radio is pretty heavy compared to a aftermarket,But the speakers are only ounces of wieght

Run a race battery and you dont need to pull apart your lawnmower

Remove the rear bumper and replace with a roll pan.

The most wieght i removed from Abby was because of dirt and dust there where piles and piles of it on the floor.
