ok so im currently deployed right now so i can go check out the truck. so here it goes. my wife drove the truck to the river this weekend and had it all detailed and pretty and what not and they dude said your coolant is low you need a water pump. my brother looked at it and said there is zero leaking or anything like that.my wife said that it ran fine there and back 275 miles each way. she just had a major service done on the truck all fluids changed TRANS,COOLANT, DIFFS, BRAKES. etc. so there are no symptoms other than the fluid being low and the truck only has 71k babied miles. could it be it needs to be topped off after the coolant drain and fill. or could the pump actually be bad?? also she said no white smoke black or any smoke. again there are zero leaks. im thinking just a top off.. what dou you guys think?

I'd top it off and just keep an eye on it. More Than likely if the coolant was just changed they didn't get 100% of the air out. Now it's had time to work the air out.

sounds like it just needs the coolant topped off. The water pump tends to make itself pretty obvious when its gone bad as it will leak out the weep hole.

i was thinking that to. thanks guys. I just wanted to get your opinions before i send her to get it top'd off or looked at. she only drives it to take the kids to the river house or big bear so other than that it just hangs out in the driveway hooked up to its tender. i think since the fluid changes she has only put mayb 550 miles on it including this trip.. and she said the coolant light went on then turned off only once and that was after the long drive from ca to az the next day.

I had a pump go bad and it took a week to work all the air out of the system. I had to top off three times within about five days.

Just have her top it off and keep an eye on it. Could early stages of a leaky head gasket. Many LLY engines have had head gasket problems.
