What kind of water pump do you run? I am currently building a smack in shop trying to decide what to do...pin it, weld it... you read horror stories about gear coming off shaft. What’s your suggestion?

Some of the guys are now running the new hi po plastic impeller pump like like danville sells ,and others ! There have been many billions of miles put on Dmaxes on oem water pumps without issue , when you start doubling hp , rpms and torque by %50 that seems to be when you get the most issues ! Many of us have no problems with tig welded pumps , some do !

Moved into Engine Building section. This had nothing to do with bsankey's build.

IMO, pin it if you have the ability. Welding seems to affect the seals negatively.
