I am in the middle of a water pump swap. Got my new Bosch pump today and it looks like the impeller was not pressed on all the way and/or straight. Wanted to see what the thoughts were here on the forum.
Got my feeler gauge out and took some measurements. The stock pump is between .031 and .041 clearance from the impeller to the center housing, so only .01" runout. It's obviously not perfectly straight but it's a small enough difference from the low side to the high side that I can't see any wobble when spinning the drive gear. The Bosch unit, on the other hand, is from .058 to .105 clearance (0.047" runout, almost 5x the stock pump)...so it's not on as far and the "wobble" is significantly more pronounced. Is this acceptable, or should I send it back?
