Water Pump DIY?

going to do a water pump tomm on my buddies 02 and need some pointers? i have all data and it looks like they are telling you to take off a lot of uneeded stuff. what do yall think? i have all the tools i just need to know what size fan wrench to use on our trucks. and any pointers anyone can give me

Plan on removing the balancer (to get to one stupid bolt) You'll need a 12 point socket (1-1/2") fit's perfect. It is right hand thread. The balancer should be retightened to 268 ft/lbs on reassembly. If you don't pull the radiator and IC you'll just need to tighten the crap out of it with a breaker bar. Don't forget to pull out the bleed screw when you refill the system. (you knew that) It's a fairly straight forward job. Should take about 4 hours.

what about the fan? what size nut? how much coolant does it take? i have the socket a 36mm i had to buy one when i did my tranny last weekend

The fan is 54mm:eek: or 2-1/8th. I know it sounds crude, but a big cresent (I didn't say that) will work.

On edit; I use 2 gal Dexcool then top it off with H20.
