Did you pull a hose off? That milkshake mix stuff is super sticky and can be a huge pain to get it all out of there. Were you mixing dex and oil before you did the gaskets?

If so I bet there is residual gunk.

Never opened the system until head gaskets.. It puked out the radiator cap and down the side of the truck..nothing went in the oil. And everything was cleaned when I put it back together almost 50,000 miles ago

This stuff isn't sticky.. Its like colored oil. And slick like oil oil

Founded while I'm doing a turbo swap

Hmm any floating chunks of it in the reservoir? Whatever it is, it sure looks nasty. IMO it looks like milkshake, but for your sake I hope it isnt.

Nope no floating chunks in the reservoir.. It sure looks like it... The only thing different is the expansion tank was cracked and leaking coolant. Possible that it sucked coolant in from the drain?

You mean sucked coolant into the intake? I'm not clear on what you mean here.

Yes sucked it in via the intake.. Most likely on a grade going slow..

Nah then the engine would just eat it and spit out some white smoke. The source of the goop in your photo is clearly the upper valve cover and through the PCV hose into the turbo mouthpiece.

I wonder if it's not just a little moisture from either washing or condensation?
Another reason to re-route the PCV!

Winner winner ^^^
I used to see it every single day when I worked for Toyota. They would get condensation/oil in the oil fill tube and it looked exactly like that.

Now that I think about it I saw the same thing in some large v-12 Cummins and Detroit's operating in high humidity climates. They used to idle or run at low rpm's for extended periods of time never getting up to operating temp. It would slobber out of the PCV hoses onto the ground. It was yellowish also.

Also seen it sometimes on the bottom side of the oil cap.

Truck has seen some pretty large and humid temp swings last couple weeks. I'll get an oil sample regardless. truck has ~220k on it been towing heavy since 98k.. And due for routine maintenance.

I'm going to go with condensation, if the coolant is clean

LBZ did a good job describing it in the above post.
I've seen that on older engines that don't have a PCV system. Happens when the engine doesn't warm up and the valve covers remain cold. Short drive and grocery getting.

Well the short drive never really warm up doesn't apply to a hotshot truck.. Will say that dropping from hot operating temps to cool temps quickly will cause condensation.. Either way I feel better about it..
