ive been looking around and asking about whats a good tuner and such for the duramax. everyone says efi live is the best way to go. with that said how do i go abouts getting efi live? do i have to by the programmer? or do i have to find someone who has one that can tune my truck for me? also is there anyone in the ontario region that works with efi live??

best way to do it is to buy a efi V2 from a known tuner of your choice and buy a set of tunes from them of your choosing and that way if you ever want to go with a new persons tunes you can, unlike using an auto cal as with an auto cal you are locked to the tuner who originally sent you the tunes unless you buy another autocal. and this way if you have a V2 you get two licences and can do mulitple vehicles and make changes yourself and you will be able to post up tunes for tuning help or email them to have changes made. hope this helps.
problem is i dont know any tuners or anyone thats sells efi live... i looked at this on ebay:

if i buy that where do i purchase tunes from? also i was looking at a "Dsp5" switch where i can swithc between 5 different tune on the fly. how hard is that to install and whats needed??
Dont buy EFI off Ebay! do some reading on this forum, some of the best EFI tuners in the country are members here. Decide on the person you want to tune your truck first and buy EFI hardware from him. Most tuners offer a package deal includes the V2 a Dsp5 switch and a set of 5 tunes. Also most will make a few changes for you at no charge to dial things in just like you want them.
Call Danville or All Seasons and they will set you up. Your better off just to buy the V2 and be able to everything yourself. There isn't anyone around here I'd trust to tune my truck or a stock truck for that matter.
Just get an auto cal from a good tuner. There are only a handful of tuners in the U.S that i would trust enough to buy tunes from. I'm not going to list names, do your own research. There's enough info here @DD about tuners to choke a horse so dig in, read until your eyes are dry and bloodshot, then take your best guess....
Only a damn fool would buy software off ebay, when you can so easily procure the products from the original source, unless of course it is the tuner, the software is new etc.
Even then i would be sceptical.
If you get an auto cal any changes can be made to the tuning through an email to and from your tuner, once you download the efi live format from efi live, you can take live data from your truck with the auto cal download it to the efi live program and then email the log to your tuner, they interpret the info and tailor the tune to your truck.
