Maybe this belongs in introductions...I'm a new member of the Duramax club. Not new to diesels but I bought a 2003 GMC 2500 EC/LB w/40k on it and a clean title. My previous rigs have had a GM 6.5 TD and a 5.9 HO Cummins ISBe.

I recently purchased a VA smartbox e from e-barf and the seller said he had the "hot" tune; 200+ hp done to the box before VA went out of business. I have scoured the internet and this site but I haven't found what happens to the intermediate hp setting when this "hot" tune is added to the (presumably) top setting on the box.

My smartbox for my Cummins was 0-70-110 and the unit I bought is originally advertised as 0-70-125. Is it possible that the "hot" smartbox e is 0-70-200? I ask because it will influence how often and under what conditions I smash the smoke pedal on my poor stock tranny. I have purposely left the switch under the hood in the protective confines of the engine bay to avoid the temptation of switching it to kill. I probably should have done some more homework before buying but the deal was too good to pass up.

Thanks-
