So I'm tearing into this spare engine I bought and the valve springs have a light green paint on them. Is this normal?

Im pretty sure the paint color indicates the spring pressure

I went through inventory of some 855 Big cam heads a while back at work which also had painted springs. Speed of assembly purpose?

I had read that sometimes they're painted to differentiate between intake and exhaust springs? But mine were all painted the same colour.

I have random green paint on both my lb7 and lly heads,both exh and intake springs.Good question as to why its there.
