Any of our vets done one? How long was the process? I did a BDD in December and today it moved to Prep for Decision so that's good. Any insight on how long yours took?

Wow that's crazy! I guess I won't trust their estimated completion date then. Mine isn't anything too complicated but with the CA I'm sure they will make it complicated

Man I fought for a year while I was still in the USMC to get my stuff right and finally was medically retired and now it's absolute hell getting my claim worked out to be fully 100% vs the 90 I have now. Been a year so far since I been out and I call 2 times a week. Looking at 18-24 months minimum from what they tell me. But if you go for it, stay on it. We deserve it, time it takes is worth the headaches during but after is sweet. :thumb:

All depends on your VISN efficiency and type of injury. I worked for the VA in eligibilty for a while last year and may be able to help with some hints.

Wow. That's pretty crazy man. I'm not too concerned as my stuff was fairly cut and dry and my suspense date is now July-Dec 2014. Which fits the year from filing and supposedly the BDD speeds it up.

Thanks Tim. I may have some questions about my stuff...any free pointers? :D

Also for those of us that are OIF/OEF veterans keep the National Burn Pit Registry in mind if you don't what that is just ask. Here is some relevant info:

Burn Pit Article
March 21, 2014: Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Tom Udall, D-N.M., slammed the Veterans Affairs Department for failing to set up a registry of troops exposed to toxic pollutants from trash burn pits in Afghanistan and Iraq, as required by legislation they sponsored. The law, signed by President Obama on Jan. 13, 2013, gave VA one year to develop, create and maintain an open burn pit registry of service members and veterans who may have been exposed to toxic chemicals and fumes from open air burn pits. Some of the sites measured acres in size and burned all kinds of trash, including chemical-laden batteries, electronics and plastics. Troops living or working nearby have said the fumes sickened them. VA, in the burn pit section of its public health website, maintains that exposure to smoke or fumes from the trash sites does not correlate with long term health problems, based on research conducted by the Institute of Medicine in October 2011. Corker, ranking member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and Udall, a member of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations subcommittee, asked VA Secetary Eric Shinseki why the registry has not yet been established, three months after the deadline, in a letter sent Wednesday. “This delay is deeply concerning, particularly when similar registries exist within the United States government,” Corker and Udall told Shinseki. VA, for example, has operated for decades an Agent Orange Registry for veterans exposed to that toxic defoliant in Vietnam. The two Senators asked Shinseki to “provide Congress with information on the current status of the Open Air Burn Pit Registry, an accounting of problems that have arisen during the development of the registry, detailed information on remaining benchmarks to be completed before the Open Air Burn Pit Registry will become fully operational, and any information on how Congress can help to expedite the implementation of this critical program.” Nextgov asked VA similar questions. “The registry launch has been postponed until spring 2014 to allow adequate time to develop and test the software and hardware as well as to ensure data security and accessibility,” spokeswoman Victoria Dillon said in an email reply. She did not give a firm date for startup.

Yeah it's can be a mess but worth it. I recently found out about the burn pit registry. Never would've crossed my mind but something else to do now. You never know how it could've affected us so good thing they came to reality with all this stuff. Even though it's tough at times at least we have something and in resent years with all the OIF/OEF problems it's really opened some eyes. Good luck with everything, I wish you the best man :thumb:

Yep. I served in the Marines from May 2005 to Feb 2014. Was an 0231 Intel Analyst, did two deployments to OIF: 2006 and 2008, got out as an instructor at TTECG in 29 Palms

Oh okay. Yeah mine is at the San Diego VA Regional Office...they have been really good and communicating and getting my appointments ASAP. So I really have no complaints we'll just see how they rate me and how long it takes.

Yes. Glad to show someone the burn pit info I think it's hugely important to know about. Too often our veterans are left out in the cold on things. Which is the struggle I have faced so far. All of these "vet friendly" employers are not as forthcoming as they advertise. All of the "sure thing" opportunities don't pan out. Like many vets I am a realist and wish so many things weren't sugar coated.

Filed mine in February for my knee. I have very little faith it will be processed in a timely manner.

Didn't realize you were out already. Man time flies. That's a good attitude to have. I figure if I get anything it's not something I'm counting on or depending on so it'll just be a nice bonus. I will let you know what they say about my knees.

I'm not out, after my deployment I went back to the reserve side. If I understood the VA PA correctly, that while a zero percent rating doesn't come with any type of monetary payment all care relating to my knee is covered. I am okay with that because at this point it hurts and is affecting my day to day tasks. :(

Yup that's what I'm looking for too. But I have a few more issues and some of them should have a rating but we will see...good to see you back. Where did you guys deploy?
