The clamp I have for my twins are the crappy worm gear clamp and won't seal the mouthpiece to the stock Turbo. Getting a decent sized boost leak. The ones danville have are like 50 plus another 15 shipping. I can't find any others out there by using the trusty search function. Y'all know of a decent one that doesn't cost so much?

Go to a Napa store and when they look at you all dumbfounded, ask for the balkamp book. You will find what you need.

The stock turbo is a vband...the way i understand it is that he is saying the stock worm gear v band clamp that holds the mouth piece onto the turbo is not strong enough causing a boost leak where the mouth piece clamps to the turbo. He is looking for a vband clamp that will fit the stock turbo v band that is not so expensive.

Exactly. The cheap wormgear aluminum v band clamp sucks and is a common issue for boost leaks with twins. I'm wanting to go to a t bolt style steel clamp that doesn't strip out when you put some tq on it. Pretty sure I'm not a tard and know what I'm talking about. How in the hell would a freaking hose clamp even go where there? Where my atmospheric Turbo connects to the inlet of the stocker? Anyways. I'm still searching away. Hopefully I won't have to pay 65 for a part that is worth maybe $15.

Now you guys have me confused, the V-band clamps are generally used on the exhaust side where the clamp closes down around the raised rings on the two pipes being connected.

The stock turbo uses a v band as you can see here. Except the clamp it comes with is a cheap worm gear type v band clamp. It works fine for holding the mouth piece on but it just doesn't have the strength to properly hold in a twin setup like the t-bolt style v band clamps do.

OOPs, just pulled the intake off mine the other day to see how much residue was built up from the EGR and noticed the worm clamp. I did not know it was a V-band worm clamp and I never noticed the ring on my spare turbo in the garage as I have it taped off for a future rebuild, thanks...

Yea and the stock turbo on 04.5+ trucks use a v band for the turbo inlet just like the exhaust does..

Your right sorry. But can someone explain to me wtf a worm drive v band is? All the v bands I've seen are a t bolt design. Guess thats where i was confused. A oring with a v band would be a good idea for this purpose.

What kind of twin setup do you have? I'm suprised the plumbing between the stock and big turbo don't have a machined grooved in the flange put an oring in it.

Yeah get that pos off there. Fleet pride, Isuzu, freight liner, republic diesel. Anyone sells a vband. But make sure you don't get a full marman clamp as they look similar and used on cummins exhaust quite a bit. I have forgotten that's what the stock looks like! Been so long since I've looked at one I guess

Worm drive is just like a regular hose clamp the screw pulls on the slots and tightens. But it can only be torqued so much before it starts slipping.

A little silicone grease on the inside of the clamp and O-rings would help in obtaining an even torque on the parts and reducing the risk of deforming the clamp. I used never-sieze on the V-band clamp at the downpipe connection and all the band clamps on the exhaust system, makes adjustments a breeze.

My piping has an o ring but it will still blow past when doing a boost leak check. Thanks for clearing it up for the others who haven't seen it yet. I saw where people have been getting some made because the others are too thick to fit in there.
