I've never used this before. Always used EFILive to tune the LB7's and LLY's. But I'll be leaving my LMM tuning to Tony. He suggested going the Autocal route. What is everyone's experience?

The only thing that kepted me from getting one, was the fact that only his tunes will work one it. If you ever want to try someone else's tunes you will have to get another one.

I like using the autocals, they give people starting from nothing a way to get efi live in their rigs without having to buy a 900 setup just to be able to flash it, and then buy tuning on top of that. I buy back autocals from people who want to try another tuner. It gives both of us a better deal, and pass on some savings to future customers.

Auto cals can be UNLINKED from the original tuner so they can load another tuners tunes on the and try them if the customer wants.

That is very true, however if it is unlinked from one tuner and relinked to another then the tunes from the unlinked V2 cannot be loaded until it is relinked.

I just had a long conversation with a customer on Friday regarding this issue, he wanted to play around with his own tunes and a friend of his was going to help him, I told him I would gladly unlink the Autocal but if his buddies tunes didn't work out he would no longer be able to load the tunes I sent him.

He didn't quite understand why at first, but keep in mind that yes you can unlink them and relink them but the unlinked tunes cannot be loaded again.

If you don't buy an autocal because you "still might want to try another tuner" then
a. You have no faith in your tuner
b. You picked a bad tuner and
c. Can't make up your mind on anything in life :D :thumb:

I just purchased an autocal from Tony. A friend said to me "You know you won't be able to modify the tune" I said yes, but why would I pay Tony to tune my truck if I'm going to modify it anyways?

Yes , true...
But then again, Tony can modify the tune when and if need be:thumb:

The only downsides to the auto-cal is: personally not being able to adjust anything, not being able to run multiple tuners tunes, and viewing data. It shows a bunch of values, and records and displays tons of data, just not the same as a v2 does with a laptop, you have to load recorded data to the v2 to fully view it

The auto-cal is: simple to use, simple to change tune files from tuner via e-mail, good to have for viewing and clearing trouble codes, good for viewing live data of individual parameters(ie ect, eot, maf, map etc etc) and logging data to send to a tuner, great for getting efi live programmed into the truck by a reputable tuner.

The auto-cal is straight forward and simple to use, yes it has serious limitations that other programmers don't, like being able to change calibrations for gears, tires and egr delete, using the auto cal will force you to contact your tuner for these, other than that, I think it's the best plug and play tuning devise available:thumb:

Yup this is what he was getting at, and again, I'm paying a professional to do it, so I will let it in his hands anyways! :thumb:

Your right, but doesnt the auto cal relink with you if he uses the tunes you sent him again? I'm sure I read that in the PDF for tuners for autocals?? but maybe not.

Only if I relink it, what you have to understand is when I link or any tuner links the Autocal it changes the License Number in the Autocal, the tunes are configured when you "Save for Autocal" with that unique V2 License number as part of the tune file.

The software checks the Autocal license against the tune permission, when they do not match the tune will not load.

So once you unlink it any tunes from that unlinked V2 will NEVER LOAD.
