Hi, I am new here. I have a big problem with my 01 lbz. I posted this on another site. A member here (vrable) said this is the best site with the most knowlegable people. I am desperate and need any advice I can get here. Driving my deceased dads 85 ford is pretty depressing.

Here is my story. I have a 01 lb7 that blew something I assumed fuel injector. Massive amount of diesel in crankcase and blowing all over the underside. Drove maybe 10 miles home after puttin in 2 gallons of oil. The truck never did blow white smoke.

Found a mechanic and setteled on about a 4k fix for rebuilt injectors. Before he did the work he cut open the oil filter. He called me and said there was alot of non magnetic shavings in the filter and I should scrap the thing or put a new motor in it. This is something I cannot do.

The truck sounds and runs fine but I think the mechanic might be right from what he saw in the filter.

I had been smelling diesel exhaust for a while. Maybe I didnt catch it in time and put on alot more miles than I thought

Ok so say there is some bearing or other damage what are the chances if I take care of the fuel in the crankcase that I can keep this truck running for a while

The truck has 126,000mi..looking for suggestions

Thanks for reading this and please reply if you can help.

mantua, oh
i blew both of mine at 75000 my lb7 and lly. the easiest and cheapest route in my opinion is to purchase another used engine. u can usually find a sweet deal for no more than 3500 sometimes alot cheaper and the swap is simpleu can do in a night and a half, then throw the other on a stand and rebuild slowly for a extra. just my opinion. i guess it depends on if u do your own work or not. or just have the mechanic toss in some injectors and new bottom bearings it just is scetchy on to were those pieces have traveled throughout the engine.

how long have you been smelling the diesel in the exhaust/oil.

the non magnetic material kinda scares me cause that could be from the bearings wearing out from not having oil to lube them

I am in San Diego

I had been smelling the diesel from the exhaust the last 5 or6 times I drove it. I could only smell it when it was running. The last and final trip when I could smell fuel worst case I drove it 60mi

Thanks
