Wherever I am working
Stuck on the side of the road. My lift pump went out. It started making funny noises so I turned it off. Drove 35 miles and then the truck just up and died. Lift pump is leaking and was pulling air. I drained the fuel filter and by passed the lift pump. For some reason it still will not start. There is no air in the filter and I don't know what else it could be. I am near a dealer but don't know anyone to pull me over there. My daughter and I are just sitting here trying to get it started

It cranks real good, just no fire.

probably ran the lines/injectors dry and now without a lift pump you really wouldnt have any way to get fuel back up to the lines. Might have to call a tow truck.

Nevermind glad you got it... Be careful with the ether though its hard on glow plugs.
Keep pumping the hand primer on the filter head until it gets hard, try to start it, then repeat, sounds like it ran the lines dry.

Got it. A tech from the local JD dealer had some ether. Once it caught fire it stayed running.

Those pictures are nuts. Ya, the guy was a true gentleman by helping me out on this one. My family was in town for my grandmothers funeral and this guy knows my aunt and uncle so he was super cool about helping me out.

All is good now. Getting rid of the PPE pump and gonna go with an AirDog this time. She doesn't run as good without it but I don't HAVE TO go balls out.
