I think it is rediculous that my lmm doesn't have greasable u-joints. What is the best replacement that you guys have come across?

From what I've seen, and not saying I've seen it all or anything, most u joints I've seen fail broke at the caps from lack of lube or axle wrap caused the needles to disintegrate. I haven't actually seen one break in the middle, that's not saying it doesn't happen though. But here's something to ponder, heavy equipment u joints and 2.5 ton military u joints are all greasable. So drilling them must not weaken them to much. That being said I've always used greasable joints and haven't had problems

I think the most important thing is to use a good quality u-joint.

greaseable u-joints are for gas trucks that don't make any torque aka weaker

Spicer HDs

huh, thats odd, ive seen many and run many in applications that far exceed these trucks and they have been serviceable. isnt it odd, we had identical tractors one year appart, one with graseable u-joints one without. the one with greasible joints is still running almost 10000 hours later, the other has had the originals replaced with servicable units. no breakage.

Well i guess since the greasable presicions i put in my driveshaft out lasted my rods, id say they are decently strong. I plan to run spicers soon though. After destroying two presicion 1310 u-joints on my samurai from weak/bad cups, i cant say how long these 1450 or 1480 (what ever is in my truck) will last and dont care to find out. Loosing a u-joint on the freeway aint fun.
