Two fluid questions for Mike

A friend of mine recently purchased an 08 LMM that has 193k on it. It's bone stock, never been tuned, no super heavy towing, mostly highway miles, and was always serviced at a dealer, so I'd ASSUME it still has Dex-VI in it. When he stopped at the local Alli dealer to get some filters and PTO gaskets, the guy there was telling him about Transynd, which of course is good stuff (far better than Dex-VI), but I'm not sure it's a good idea to switch from Dev-VI to Transynd (or something else) with 193k on it. Should we just keep Dex-VI in it at this point until t if/when we rebuild it?

If it's not a problem to change the fluid, What should we change it to? We could go to Transynd, The Mobil1 ATF doesn't appear to be TES295 rated so I think that's out, Mike's favorite fluid seems to be Quatrasyn (is that still the case?), but I haven't been able to find it ANYWHERE (I need to try and call some distributors around here), and I've read that Amsoil's TorqueDrive seems to be very good.

Mike, is QuatraSyn still the best in your opinion? If so, if we assume for a second I can't get it, what would be your second favorite that might be somewhat readily available? TorqueDrive? Transynd?

While I'm posting... Do you think it would be a bad idea to put in a Transgo Jr while we're doing a swap/flush? I would think it wouldn't hurt.

First of all; Castrol's TranSynd and Mobil Delvac atf are the ONLY 2 fluids Allison recommends. They are both TES 295 fluids ( Allison desination number ). All other fluids approved by Allison are rebadged fluids of the 2 above mentioned.
There are many other fluids that claim they are equal or better than the Allison TES 295 fluids above ( and they very well might be ) but they haven't been tested by Allison.
Citgo Quatrasyn is my favorite fluid for racing Allisons. Problem is Citgo is pulling out of the USA. Seems everyone hates Chavez so much they refuse to buy Citgo products. I can no longer buy it.
I would not hesitate to switch over a high mileage Allison to TranSynd.

Thanks Mike. If you would not hesitate to switch to Transynd (Or mobil Delvac - I assume the mobile delvac and transynd are more or less equal?), then we'll put that on the list of things to do. How about the Transgo Jr? Since QuatraSyn is becoming impossible to get, what's your next favorite fluid for a racing transmission? I'm going to need to get a 'refresh kit' based on your new kit whenever it becomes available for my trans and would like to use whatever's best for a racing transmission in it.

Maybe I ought to go see if I can get a pallet of the QUATRASYN and start selling it. I know it is some GOOD fluid. My tarns shifts so much better than it ever did with TRANSYND or DEX/MERC fluid.

Yay! There's a distributor not far from me that has it. I was told that unless something irregular happens, they have it all the time. $157/5gal pail. Now Mike, when are you releasing your new kit? :poke::hug: I need to do a full refresh since my trans never shifted right after I ran it with the 6-speed VB & 5-speed TCM (Running full LBZ conversion now). It was perfect with the 5-sp VB & TCM, but I think the solenoid differenced damaged something...

Back on topic.... Which would be better for this stock trans: The QuatraSyn or Transynd? Both are good, both are available to me. Just a question of which would be better for a stock, high mileage trans?
