Finally. We are going to run PPE twin (compound) turbochargers on Casper for development purposes. PPE is trying out a custom twin setup with help from Garrett to see how high we can turn it up. I can't say what the exact configuration will be, as it's still a prototype setup.

To support the additional HP, Mike L of Inglewood Transmission is trying some new prototype clutches on the C3, and some new hard parts as well. It will be based on a 5-sp Allison.

Goal is 900+ rwhp over a wide powerband, and a 9 second ET on fuel-only at 6700lb. Currently the GT42 Mag setup is making 798rwhp uncorrected, and the GT4202R setup is 754rwhp.

The engine will be our El Mirage engine, which is LBZ heads, LLY block, LLY ECM and 10% over Dynomite Diesel injectors. SoCal Diesel high speed valvetrain, Crower rods, delipped pistons are the internals, with a PPE Dual CP3 system running 2 Wicked Diesel pumps supplies the fueling.

I will retune it using EFILive for both engine and trans tuning to get it dialed in.

I will post more as info becomes available.

Just curious but can you guys choose like a LLY ECM rather than an LBZ ECM to use with this setup? Because you said LBZ heads and LLY ECM. I dont know that much so i didnt know if its possible to switch them.

The engine has LBZ heads on it just because that's what I had available. If I had LLY heads sitting there, I'd have LLY heads on it.

We will probably switch over to LBZ electronics later on. But the reluctor wheel and injectors must match the ECM. Glowplugs are different, but they are the same voltage, so they are no concern.

PS - You can put LBZ heads on an LLY, but you cannot put LLY heads in an LBZ. The injector bodies are .020" bigger on an LBZ as are the injector bores. They won't physically fit in LLY heads. The LLY and LBZ injectors are not electrically compatible.

Clear as mud?
