Those of you that are twinned, what have you done if anything to route cooler air to the filter and/or protect the filter a little better?
I work in construction and mine seems to get dirty quickly. I was thinking of fabbing some type of tubing, maybe like the Banks super scoop(but something cheaper/custom) to almost encase the filter (and possibly later buying a true ram air hood:) )
Anyone know where I can get an AFE prefilter? I had one but forget what I did with it. I thought Kennedy used to sell them, what about the AFE cleaner?
Anyone using something other than an AFE filter?
I seem to hear more and more about S&B.

i tryed a sort of cold air style intake. routed it down and right into the fog light hole. looked cool, but track times proved no difference. also filter gets real dirty down that far. i too would like to know where to get a prefilter.

Did you keep filter in same location on turbo, or did you use the CAI kit to route the filter down low?
I'd like to leave mine where it's at, but add something to encase it but also like a ram air effect, to get cooler air in.
Someone used a Banks super scoop and modified it for a similar situation.
I'd rather save a little money and fab, make it a DIY mod. I love doing these things myself.

i took the filet off and took some 4inch tubing and ran it toward the ground. then took the elbow off the front pipe of my exhaust and turned it towards the fog light hole and put the filter back on. the filter sat right in the fog light hole. i thought it was more for drag racing but really saw no improvement over where it normally is.

i would use the banks like what rob said and just leave the filte where it is.

There is a section (10" spool piece) that is removable. I install the spool piece directly to the turbo while at the track! With spool piece removed there is enough pipe to route cold air to the filter.

I just cut out a bit up by the filter on the scoop. I do feel it helped at the track and also with everyday driving.

That is really nice, exactly what I was thinking of. Have any better pics of how it surrounds the filter?
I noticed tonight the filter being lower, with bars turned down, how is your setup or anyone else's for that matter affected by turning the bars down for strip duty?

How accessible is your filter for cleaning?

Your joking right? The filter will get closer to the ground when you lower the truck, just because the truck is going down. It will not change the pos. in the eng. compartment, by messing with the TB's though. Sure you don't have a loose clamp on the intake?

No what I mean is lowering the tbars, how is the piping affected? Does it rub on the tire any or what about when you're turning?
