Came across a steal on a twin kit for my lly. I'm run in a dts 71.5 now. The charger with this kit is a 75/88/1.32 s400 Billet. Would that be too small to work on my set uP? Just keeping my options open. Not really wanting to purchase a s488 out right at the moment.
Also what oil cooler set ups are you guys running to keep the temps down? Right now I see 180 or so with hicks 15w40.

oil temps

"Killer Bees" oil cooler. Expensive, more trouble than usual to buy and receive it but, it looks and works great. Barely gets to 180 on the Gulf coast with 480/366.

I agree on the oil cooler. I run Killer bees setup and I find it a must have when towing heavy with twins. He is a pain to get a hold of and deal with though.

I don't think you will find much benefit from a 75mm atmosphere turbo with your current turbo. An 82mm would be a much better match.

A s475 would be way too small to pair up with your current turbo. You can add your own external oil cooler yourself for a reasonable amount of money. Realistically tons of people are running twins and towing without adding more oil cooling and it's working just fine.

Thanks for the info PA. you make a good point there are a lot of stocker twin guys running around stock. But, they do not have the cash sunk unto a built motor and they probably won't see the extreme abuse this truck is capable of.
I've searched around, is there any pieced together info on DIY coolers? Not looking to drop 1k on killerbees set up.
Thanks

I am using a sandwich adapters and a Fluidyne cooler. I do not have any issues with oil temps.

How much difference is there in oil temps between your ball bearing turbos and a journal bearing setup?

I do not know much about ball bearing ones except they do not require as much oil to operate and some are water cooled which is why the oil temps could be lower on them.

Off hand, does anyone know a good asking price for a brand new billet 475 like this? I'll be selling this one looking for a bigger s400 for my rig. Thanks

I agree. Using another liquid to take some of the heat off the engine oil will lower oil temps naturally, but having another water cooled turbo could then raise your ECT. hand in hand relationship
