So I found an s475 with very few miles on it and couldn't pass up the deal, its the basic 75/88/1.32 turbo I am planning on doing a compound setup myself but have a question.
ny stock ihi turbo has some play, not bad but not new either, im sure it will be fine for quite some time but I want to cover my options.
I am wanting to know what will work well with that 475, spool like stock and tow well (not that I tow much lol) I have searched but haven't found any real good answers just this should work kind of thing.
I have a bd t3 pedestal already is that worth keeping for this project? If so what size turbo would work? Gated or non gated?
I have some ideas but want some input from those that have already tried things. Thanks guys!

Forgot to add before someone asks trans is in the works and lift pump also.
Will the dsp5 tunes I have work for it for the time being? I don't need a ton of extra power while its snowy anyways lol

It has little side to side no in and out, but more than a new one. I figured it would need gated, just curious as to the sizes, like 62/?/? What ar should the turbine be? Exhaust wheel size? I was thinking like a 64/71/.91 gated but just wanted opinions.
If its the smaller. 80 though the t3 pedestal I have would work but I don't know if drive pressures could be kept in check

If your stock turbo is good then leave it on the truck. I am running the same home built set up and tow a lot with no problems. Rob will have to adjust the tuning or it will be doggy/laggy. Is the 475 a T6? Stock BW part number is 171702. If so then you can run it non gated and be fine. IMO the 366/475 is not stock rod friendly and if you tune that set up for a stock engine whats the point as you really can't take advantage of all the power anyway without shorting you rods! Do the trans first!

Yeah its a t6, I know its not stock rod friendly but if my stock turbo goes bad I was just curious of the options available. And like I said trans is already in the works.
If I get that far I probably will build an engine and go that route

Ha yeah "if I had the money" is the big thing there lol.
Im sure my stock turbo will last quite a while so I probably will just sell the pedestal to buy some pieces for the twin build. I just want a truck that's going to be a decent truck at the track for now.
