i guess alot of guys are assuming ill be towing heavy with the limo :D.

Josh, i want everything, dont you understand it! i want 1500hp, max torque at 2k rpm, max hp at 3500rpm, tow 20k at 100mph up hill during 1000* outside az temp, and daily drive this thing while being reliable to 300k miles.

its not going to be towing much if at all but i want fast spool up and my version of fast spooling vs others is very different (im pretty sure you know my pain in the ass deal here). i have some very hard limits here via hard parts and a very lofty goal, i know that. my weight, tire size, engine setup, what i personally want drive-ability wise and turbos im looking at dont all really fit together but thats where im making some compromises.

Im kinda thinking of running a DT 67G2, trying it with my 83, then swapping the 88 on and trying it. All on the G converter. if i hate it, ill go see our favorite sheep poker and get something looser (hate to give up the coupling unless mike has something that will work on this heavy bitch). Then play with primary's again and converter lock up/shift points. This wont be a "we need to throw this stuff on NOW and make it run 10s!", its more the fact i want to tinker/play with turbos and see what i like/dont like and if my 1200rwhp is a pipe dream or can happen. This truck aint gunna hit the track in search of a 10 till i know everything is working like it should and im happy. im not putting a cage in it. This is not the brightest/safest idea but my runs in mexico arent either :D
My vote is s400/s400. We already went down the 369/488 path and I will say it spooled just a touch faster on an R converter for daily driving. However, I had to gate the fire out of it just to keep drive pressure reasonable at 1000hp. The current 472/87/1.0 & 491/100/1.45 on a divided pedistal and no gate has great drive pressure ratios and drivability is phenomenal after swapping to a J converter to loosen it up.

IMO, an s300/s400 setup is great for a SBE or pushing to 1000hp or so. Anything more than that and an s400/s400 will be much more efficient at higher power levels. A 467.7/87/.90 & 488/96/1.32 would do what you want, spool great, and I bet it would not require a gate to reach your goals safely. A divided pedistal will definately help spool.

I say this with a K converter will be what you're going after.

All sorts or crazy talk about really big atmospheric chargers and 400/400 setups. My truck made 1125 to the wheels and went 10.52 on 100s, two stock pumps, Danville’s 72 and a tct 83. I did have the smallest SoCal cam in it but I can’t imagine it was worth 125hp.

It's worth a hell of a lot more than you think. While it may not have crazy amounts of lift it does have much better duration and timing of opening/closing the valves.

That being said, I don’t think anyone needs an 88 to make 4 digit power. My 88 is noticeably laggier than the 83 it replaced.

Edit. Also should add I ran the 72/83 for a while with delipped lly pistons. Lots of street miles, dyno pulls, sled pulls and 1/4 mile passes.

Camshafts do affect the overall boost number and drive around boost numbers. I have seen stock cam compounds make 13 lbs more boost than the exact same setup with properly sized cam. There are so many variables that go into the end results.

I take some of that back. My truck went 10.5 with the stock cam. This thing has been through so many changes over such a long time haha. I think it made 980hp or something like that. Dyno was stingy as hell. Hp calculator put it over 1100hp.

Only here could a garage sale thread have more tech in it than most other's tech threads. Love it. :thumb:

Lots of different ways to skin a cat :D

Here’s what I plan to do, I’ll be changing the title after this post since it’s a hell of a derail and not really warranted to be in the garage sale. That’s all.

Ok not really lol. I’m going to do some more research but I plan to run the stealth 67g2 in the valley. That’s not set in stone BUT it sure makes things simple and I have a lot of first hand data from Josh on it. I can still use my twin kit and I can play with the 483 and 488. If it’s just not getting it done/not happy with it, I’ll be looking at the 72vvt or the 467.7 for the valley (I was about to post about that, then saw josh beat me to the punch lol)

I won’t be happy with a 472 in the valley. I’ve driven Steve’s truck and ridden in it many times. It’s just too laggy for me. I think the others I can be happy with and maybe still tow the old toy hauler to the dunes for a guys run every so often :D

If JoshH will work more than 1 day out of the month, we will have data on a 467/87/.90 & 485/96/1.32 setup. I think it will be awesome all around.

I think youd be happy with that setup. Although my personal opinion the 467.7 i would go with the 83 turbine and .90 housing to keep good spool up. Havent seen this first hand- but i have been told by many respectable guys that most billet 467 chargers are best with the 83 turbine due to the compressor being the limit clsoely after the 83 maxes out.
