Hi,
In messing around with some larger tunes, I can't help but get turbo surge (or bark) when I let off to quickly. If I'm paying attention and let off slowly, it doesn't surge. Is there any way to tune around this?

I don't think the tune is more than a 100 hp tune.

Thanks

When ever you chop the throttle too quickly with boost pressure between 20-25 psi you will cause a bark.

You have loaded the boost side or pressure side of the turbo and removed the driving force that is spinning the turbo, the exhaust energy.

So the turbo barks, a blow off valve is needed if you drive aggressively and chop the throttle without worries about barking the turbo.

Some tunes will also do it if there is too much defuel on the shifts.

Right on the money. I don't know why more folks arn't running blowoffs with the PSI we build. I've had one on mine for about 3 years now. No more bark. I looked at making these available to folk some time back but deduced it would cost about the same as the BD unit with quality components (mine would come with the B.O. mounted on a tube to put in line after the turbo though), voltage sensor, and switching valve.

What kind of turbo are you running?

How is it triggered? I can't help but think of an overly complex way to get it to work.

The bark is from the turbo going from 100,000+RPM one direction and then suddenly being totally revered by compressed pressure in the I/C and no drive pressure frome the exhaust (chopped throttle):eek::eek:. This is a friend to NO turbo in existance. Pretty hard on the turbo bearing.
