So finally have a day off tomorrow and am going to attempt to pull my stock turbo and drop in the new danville 68mm Stg2R I have sitting around. Just wondering if the up pipes need to be removed or can I just unbolt from the pedestal? Is there enough room to access the oil drain with the up pipes still attached to the manifolds?

And whatever you do make damn sure you get the upper uppipe gaskets incorrect. you can put them in wrong and and you can still put all three bolts back in but one will not be going through the gasket and it will leak. there is little teeth on the gasket that bites the threads to hold the bolts in. put the bolts in and then the gasket on the pipe when you put it back up in the engine to make sure you have that gasket in right. also take the drain line loose form the back of the block and leave it connected to the turbo and bolt it to the new turbo when you set it back down in the engine and just bolt it up to the back of the block.

my LB7 didnt need either up pipes fully removed, just unbolted from the turbo. finding the drain is a bit hard if you dont know what you're looking/feeling for though

you don't have to take the drivers side up pipe clear out but might as well so you get the gasket on right. and have a half in breaker bar with a 12 point 12MM socket cause those upper up pipe bolts are really tight. take the drivers side tire off and get all six upper up pipe bolts out.

Can you get to the upper drivers side up pipe bolts from the passenger side?

yes first take the pass side one out then you can get to them pretty easy. do you have a two post lift? if so use it makes it alo easier to stand and break those bolts loose and to get tot he lower drivers side up pipe bolts
