Turbo Relearn?

Just had my truck at the stealership for an ignition recall and asked to have them check for a boost leak. Only reason why I asked is because boost seems lower when cruising at 60 - 70 (only 1 psi).

They told me that they hooked a scanner up and commanded this & that from the turbo and did a relearn on it and it's working "better than before".

Just curious what the the turbo relearn is / how it works?

Basically the turbo learn is a vane sweep.. It just cycles the vanes and reads it.

No need to retune eh? I'm assuming everything was done through the scanner and they wouldn't have done anything with the ECM.

Correct.. Unless they decided to flash it for some reason which they should have contacted you about first.

The truck technically does that every time you drive it. All they did was command the vane solenoid off and on and make sure it cycled correctly. 1psi could just be gauge error/air quality/fuel quality.

He's only got 1 psi total cruising not 1 less... I think

Thanks guys. Would've replied sooner but was away from home.

But yeah, I'm seeing about 1psi while cruising at a speed of 70 mph. May not be low, just seems low to me.

And the thing is I actually wanted the dealer to hook up a kent moore boost tester to see if there's a boost leak instead they did a turbo relearn. if it wasn't already in for a recall I wouldn't have even asked, cost me a hundred bones for that...
