Turbo opinions

On the same Lmm that I'm rebuilding the bottom end on, the customer wants a new turbo setup also. Now it is a factory charger over a s480 and the truck has too much fuel for the stock charger as a hp turbo. I used to be a twin turbo guy through and through but lately I've seen some pretty impressive track times and numbers with singles. Either going to so bigger twins or a big billet wheeled single. What's every ones opinions on turbos for 800 plus hp?

If I stay with twins it will not have a vgt high pressure turbo. I'm thinking if we stay twins it will be a billet 366 over a gt4718 or gt50. If we do single I'm thinking billet 6 blade s475 with 87 turbine. A lot kind of depends on how much the rebuild totals. I think the 475 will be more hard parts friendly and make good power and be decent on drivability with good tuning and the cam in this motor. Maybe I'm way off though..

In my opinion I would not go with the 366. The 468 is a lot stronger turbo. Yes you can make the power you are wanting to be at but how much abuse is the 366 taking. Just my opinion. Good choice on the gt4718.

I'm runing a gtx4202r (76mm) compounded with a gt5541 (106mm). Some said it would never spool, it does and I drive every chance I get, even through Washington dc traffic.

Yeah I agree with a s400 based charger being "stronger" but I'm just going off personal experience from the past. My 366/gt47 setup went 10's and drivability was incredible. I ran that 4202x charger and hated it. Sure it moves a lot of air but I had it for less then 1500 miles and the exducer was into the compressor housing. But I'm sure they have changed them since then. That was like 4 years ago. I always wanted to try the 106 gt55. I had the 91 and 94 at one point or another. Don't think I'm going to go that big though on this build. This kid that I'm building it for is rough on stuff. Lol

I loved my 366/483 kit. Sold it to run. 468/450-88 but got a deal on this stuff. It is big and way overkill. Lol.
