2002 LB7 all stock with 225K. The turbo is making a whining noise under load. If you let your foot off the throttle it will go away and then come back when you start to give it gas again. Seems to happen at higher speeds around 40 MPH or faster. At first I thought it was the fan belt but if only I was so lucky. Any idea's what could be the problem.

maybe pressue test ic/fittings? disconnect turbo outlet and inlet before horn use air compressor 20 psi see if u have a leak somewhere that is making this noise? or get a friend to listen for location of noise in driveway with truck under load?

had to change my cam out now when i get over 18 psi boost i hear a whistle noise that wasnt there before, checked all ic components, all good so not sure might be the ported/polished intake horn i added or the resonator i removed and plugged off when i changed the cam out!

just my .02 cents :thumb:

I was not able to reuse the gasket that goes in between the egr valve and the y pipe i think it is, anyways that was a horrible noise, but only got bad about 20 psi, gasket was like 20 bucks

How do I check end play. I took off the air inlet and can't really get to the fan.

I also paid to have the codes checked and it has a P0236B underboost condition and a P0101B mass air flow sensor. I put a re manufactured MFS in it about a year ago.

Trying to figure out how to pressurize the system but I will need to make a plug and put a shreader valve in it. May have to wait until the weekend

I may have figured it out. looks like the CAC tube at the intercooler inlet is leaking. The clamp looks like it has slipped off. I have to pull the tire and wheel well to fix it and will do tomorrow night.

ah nice, that would sure beat having to rip the turbo apart! on that pressure test i just used some plumbing fittings end caps(1 had 1/2" npt thread) used 1/2"-1/4"npt bushing then threaded end of air line onto it set air compressor regulator to 20 psi! worked great!:thumb:
