Johnboy made me up some that were intended as "sleeves" for sledpulling. He did excellent work.

If you can't find what you need, perhaps give him a shout.

I've always want to experiment with turbo inlets, but never did. I think there could be some power to be had there, but only if you are constrained by inducer bore limits. In other words, I think you can improve the flow of a 2.8" charger by modifying the inlet. But it's not going to keep up with 3.0".

Thats what I was thinking. Thanks guys thats what I was looking for. I doubt I will be pulling next year either. Thinking about selling the truck and going a different route with NO rules.... Something tells me I wont be able to compete in the 2.6 class unless I build a late 60's to mid 80's chevy with a dmax or put like a s 10 body on my truck frame for saving weight.I have even heard of guys going with dakota bodies on there dodges for next year...Its getting down right CRAZY in this class now. And NO its not fun anymore. Sorry for the rant:eek:

To be honest, I really don't get it.

Diesel Pickups are fast for heavy-duty pickups. And they pull a sled well for pickups. The amazing thing is how much you can do with them and still use them as a real HD pickup.

But once you remove the barriers and turn them into racecars, they are no long amazing. Nobody is going to convince me that if I stuck a 2500HP blown alky Hemi in a pickup that it wouldn't perform better.

What I fear is they are going to "kill the sport" like what happened with Import Racing. You make it so you need a dedicated $200,000 racecar to be competitive, then nobody will give a shiit. Because a 7 second Honda is out gunned by a 4 second Funny Car, and a 1800HP Billet Block/Heads Diesel Sledpuller still won't hang with a max effort supercharged V8. It's interesting for a little while, then the racers run out of money, and the sport declines.

The rush to kill off the street classes will most likely turn around and bite them in the arse.

x2 Pat.......I tell you what, I'm not near the level that some trucks here are, but it still feels good to me and people are very impressed. It's hard to beat mid 12's at 110, pulling 310 (sled was light:rofl:), and reliable daily service.....

This is interesting to me. I posted to another forum as well. Curious to hear others thoughts on this.

I don't get it Pat. They are killing the "street class" I got into this sport thinking I could still use my truck and have fun+ still be reliable. all of that has went out the window

I have to imagine they will change the rules for 2.6 if people start swapping to fiberglass bodies.

Can I make a suggjestion Trav?

IDK where to find big ones like pro stockers and such have but, maybe a modded carburetor velocity stack
http://www.jegs.com/i/Mr.+Gasket/720/46/10002/-1

That isnt the exact same one i have on my Bu wagon but its a nice spun alluminum piece and iirc a holley inlet is right about 5" . Mine looks a tad better, nice rolled edge. but i forgot who made mine and its unmarked. There pretty cheap, and could prolly mod one to work:thumb:

I think i might rob the one off my car for my twins as a track only deal!

I would be surprised if a velocity stack that was mounted on the OD of the charger inlet would have any effect. You need one that goes to the inducer bore to get better flow, IMO.

A huge amount of air must go from sitting still in the engine bay, to 100+ mph in a short distance as it enters the inducer. The closer the velocity stack is to the inducer bore, the more effect it will have in assisting the air to accelerate with no turbulence. Less turbulence means more air.

A good velocity stack is an "engineered" shape. It takes the air and accelerates it evenly as it goes in. It is parabolic in shape, not a radius or a cone.

If you know the max airflow, and the inducer dia, a smart guy could figure out what the perfect shape is. For the rest of us, we will just try and find an existing intake stack that is designed well and mimic it.
