could be the vanes, they are stuck open. are you making boost? any codes? might be the vane position sensor. when i had that damn screwdriver in my turbo (my avatar, lol) i had a howl and no boost.

well it seems to be making some boost no gauges at the time just not as much power.. is there a way I can tell they are stuck open and is there maybe a way I can fix this problem or diagnose some other things with the turbo

Its more like the fan clutch roar u get when the truck is cold for about a block but I drove her like 30 miles got to normal engine temp and still a roar the whole time driving its late so I have not got to check anything.. still unsure what I can diagnose myself .. wouldn't you get a roar if the vanes are stuck shut sounds more like they are stuck shut as if the turbo was helping the engine warm.. I live in Florida and we are having a cold front coming in but still something doesn't seem right..

oh....its that kind of howl,lol
usually in cold mornings it will do that but should go away as the engine warms. my uneducated opinion is the clutch on the fan is going bad if it wont unlock. that sucker draws a lot of power when its engaged

dude, go look under your hood and you will see how easy it is. you have to remove the shroud.they come off as 1 piece

Thanks I appreciate it guys ... I took the fan off once to get to the crank sensor I just disnt remember it being one piece

The fan and clutch assembly threads off the pully with a big wrench and a spanner for the pully hub. (or a big wrench and a big hammer if youre impatient like me)

The nut on the clutch fan is right hand thread so it loosens towards the driver side if your looking at it correct?

If your standing infront of the truck lookimg so the firewall is behind the fan, you turn it toward the passenger side. A good air hammer takes fans off quick as well ;)
