Looking for info/tips/tricks for a turbo direct pipe install on a LMM.

My ZF-6 truck was a breeze as the manual trans give a lot more room and no dipstick to contend with.

Just trying to do some pre-planning.

remove glow plug module and bracket to get to v band and I had to bend heat shield a little. Pain in the ass:mad: but install goes smoother.:D Which one you getting? DE was perfect fit:thumb: Dip stick doesnt bolt back up so I zipped tied mine to firewall

There looks to be a DE equivalent on ebay I am thinking of trying?

Probably spend the extra for the DE though.

Why wont the dipstick tube bolt back up? I was going to remove the heatshield and run a turbo blanket.

I would suggest the DE dont cheap out or you will be redoing it again:thumb: THe bracket that holds the dip stick tube wont go over the 3 inch pipe, stocker was flat. I cut my bracket off and zipped tied it to firewall but you could probably bend it:eek:

I installed the MBRP on my 04 and the dipstick went right back in place. Could not get it out so I said f-it and just left it there. Made it interesting for pulling the old one and getting the new one in, but it fit.

Whichever one you use, have a mirror for the removal of the heat shield, there is one bolt that was a PITB. You can get the turbo shield out, but not necessary, just pull the bolts so that you can get to the clamp. Glow plug controller - I do not remember removing mine, but could have. Also have some sand paper for the coating on the downpipe, mine was a little on the tight side so I had to remove the coating on the neck where it goes into the turbo so that it would fit, then still had to work it hard to get it in there.

Took about 2 hrs with the turbo heat shield remove (45 min by itself).

You have to for Lmm;) X2 on sanding coating and DE fits alot better than MBRP one:thumb:
