Tuning with No MAF Sensor

After lots of searching, I only came up with a couple things. If you don't want to run a MAF you just max the tables and change it to not reported then you more or less have to drive it with your right foot to control spool/smoke? Anything else I should know that might be detrimental? MPG losses? Driveablity issues? Basically I screwed up. I don't have a MAF sensor lying around and I forgot to put a provision in my intake tubes before paint. Before I grind off paint and build a plate for a MAF I figured I'd ask if it's really even necessary, if I can "drive around it."

I drove without mine yesterday, didn't notice a change when I plugged it back on because of the P0102 code that popped up lol

Yeah you are fine to drive it around with all the MAF tables lifted, just have to monitor and limit your own smoke levels because the throttle pedal will be the only limiter as far as mixture control.

Thanks for the info guys. Just going to run without one for now. Hopefully smoke content is manageable. Worst case I guess I can always add one later.

I just changed my tune to run with no Maf, and I am very pleased. Throttle response off idle and low range spool is much better. Always seemed to lag a bit when rolling into it before, like it was waiting for the maf reading to get high enough to add more fuel.

With stock sticks it doesnt smoke any more than it did with the Maf controlling the mixture, which is to say it smokes very very little.

just thought i would add that.
