I have a quick question for everybody. I have this steep hill that I have to go up every morning for work. Once I start going up the hill the truck will smoke like a freight train. This usually happens when I have my curse control on. Cursing on flat area – I can see around 20 to 35 mm3 @ around 1450 rpm. Once I start climbing the hill, I see 40 to 80 mm3 at the same rpm. Any advice on how I can eliminate this smoke. I was thinking of lowering timing in that part of the map to make the turbo spool up better, but I am not for sure if that will work. Climbing the hill I usually see 5 to 6 lbs. of boost.

i'm not familiar with lmm tables but you should be able to lower the mm3 in that rpm range at higher throttle percentages. or might have to adjust main injection table.

You probably have your fuel come in way too soon my truck doesn't smoke at all with 75% and under throttle. who's tune are you running?

I am currently running one of Nick's tune. I have done a lot of modifications to this tune trying to get this thing to work good in my truck.

When the kids are around, I need to set my Curse Control as well...

I have another month until I have to start watching what I say and due.

Yes, I really wish I could have spent more time in CO tuning. It's way different needs than flat lands.

Yeah it is. It is really crazy how much altitude affects our trucks.

Just an FYI Blue smokes out intersections in CO

I didn't notice he was in CO. Nick seems to struggle with the 4094.. Tommy never really got the thing to run fast with his truck which was also an LMM how much timing, pw, and fuel pressure are you running the areas you are having problems with.

Kat I took my truck to Incline Village, NV which is pretty high altitude and it still never smoked under 75% throttle

I changed my part throttle shiftpoints and it has cleared the smoke up for me.Dont know if its rite for you.

Did you increase or decrease your part throttle.

I start to get a lot of smoke around 50 to 80 mm3, 1000 to 2500 microseconds (pretty high), 8.7 to 8.9* (my tune shows about 4.5* - other tables are obviously making my timing higher).

FYI any of the tunes i ran nicks and others all ran around the same times. I had the mph just not the et. I Know why now and it wasent the tunes. jackwleen also has some pretty big tires on his truck wich will load the truck more especially at lower speeds. i asume your still running those little pyos and proxies big weight diffrence there.

The last time I was in Incline I had 33" BFG AT KO's 285/75/16 on heavy ass American Racing Wheels. IIRC your truck ran 108-109 mph right Tommy? with Dual CP3's you should have been in the 114-116 area.

I also have run Nicks tunes and have the some problem.I also live in the mountains so what I did was raise the part throttle upshift points by 5% then copy and paste them to your downshifts then minus 3 and it worked well.Make sure you reset your higher gears taps also.

Just curious which tune you are using under Nicks. Not known to many in the LMM that smoke much with turboback exhaust. Just want to check it out and see what I get with his tune.

Mine tune is for a 4094. I believe this tune was made for Tommy. I believe he made some changes to fit his needs and his truck needs. I got Tommy's tune once I purchased his 4094 turbo. So now I need to customize the tune to fit my needs.

dont know on a LMM but best luck i have had with smoke free tunes on my lb7 is the MAF limmiting table , so it limmits fuel till X amount of air flow is acheaved . but it comes at a cost................. of slower response/power till the air arives but it does work .
