Has anyone played with pilot injection quanity and timing in the idle areas of tables? Increasing pilot quanity to 1.7 in 600-800 rpm area made a reduction in engine noise. I'm curious about how timing changes can affect noise, and if I should compensate for the extra pilot shot by adding a small amount of pilot timing?

Anybody mess with idle tuning any?

I asked Rob to build me some sealth tunes for a few lb7's, they were hunters and didn't want to make a ton of noise driving into the club or to their stands. It was amazing how quiet he got them, Rob said they were based off his own tune he used to run up to Mountain Home or something llike that, whatever that ment. So, my point is I know it can be done, I just dont know how Rob did it...

Less timing to a point generally makes them quieter, but I have never messed with idle areas of a tune really.

Interesting that Rob made quiet tunes. While I don't what my truck to sound like a 12 valve. I like it to sound like a diesel and the Dmaxs is so quiet already.

I played with it some, but found more often than not I ended up with hazing after it idled for a few minutes. I upped the pikot quantity, decreased rail to 30 like cali emissions and later models, and I believe I also played with advancing the pilot timing. On a hot day I could get the noise down, but when temps dropped out started the hazing. Or you can always go the other way.
