If you purchase a tuned ECM (like from duramaxtuner.com or similar), do you keep your original ECM?

I am wondering what you do if you need to take your truck to the stealer for service or something like that?

On a related note, I started out looking at the Quadzilla S2, then went to the Edge products and now am looking at the tuned ECM types.

I like the Edge products because it appears to give you both the ability to tune AND have gauges. The other two mentioned above appear to require them separately. Is this correct?

TIA

Any EFI Live tuning will be better quality tuning, assuming you get it from a reputable tuner. Some of these guys sell a ECM with an Edge monitor package to switch tunes and have gauges. The core charge will not be refunded to your credit card if you decide to keep your stock ECM

So what do you do if you take your truck to the dealer? Does the tuned ECM have a "stock" setting?

Be a man and admit you're voiding your warranty when you decide to tune your truck. You wanna keep warranty? Keep your truck stock.
I removed all the emission junk on my brand new cummins as soon as i brought it home, who cares about warranty anyways, if i blow my tranny i'm not goin to the dealer for a replacement, i'll make sure i install a tranny that can hold the power. If something breaks i rather replace it with better/faster parts lol.

Recalls won't be any problem, i've had my truck at the dealer for a recall and the only thing he said is holy shit there's a lotta room in your engine bay haha. Just gotta make sure they don't hook their computer up to your truck and rewrite the ecm

Not worried about warranty, truck had 106K miles on it so I have no warranty. I was mainly thinking of recall issues. I just took it in for the washer heating element recall and they hooked up to the Tech2. I was just curious how to handle the issue.

Sounds like you just tell them to fix the hard parts and leave the ECM, etc alone.
