Truck randomly loses power

I ran out to grab lunch at work, stopped and filled up with diesel too. i left the station and truck was running fine. I drove maybe a mile, and pulled out of an intersection and when accellerating up to about 40 or so, the truck lurched at the 4th gear shift. caught me totally by surprise so i had no idea.

it continued to do this intermitiently for about 1/2 a mile. what i did learn was that my rail psi gauge was dropping to 0 when this happened. I was able to watch my rail psi as i was coasting down a small hill- foot off the accelerator, it was holding steady at 5-6k. it randomly drops to 0 and then bounces around for a few seconds. it would do this about every 2-3 seconds for roughly 1/2-3/4 mile and then poof gone.

I drove the other ~5 miles back to work, taking it easy, without issue. I was really easy on the truck, but did push rail pressure up to 20k once and no issues.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Truck has dual cp3s- orginal in valley with a new reg. 2nd cp3 and reg all new in fall of 2012- maybe 10k miles since then

Air dog 200 is running.

and i am 100% certain i filled up with diesel.

To me it sounds like you might be having wiring issues with your dual CP3 controller. If it is randomly losing power/signal or has an intermittent connection to your FPRs you could see issues like these.

Thats kinda my thought too. just odd that i havent touched anything related to the cp3 wiring in awhile, and this randomly started

I you lost power then the regulator would default open causing high pressure. I would guess its pulling in air through a cracked hose/fitting before the lift pump.

Ever thought maybe bad batch of fuel? Very well could be a wiring/fpr issue but kinda weird it never had an issue until you got fuel. Maybe new fuel filters and a good additive. Worth a shot

has optilube in the tank.

I filled a 5 gallon jug at the time i filled the truck, So i will pull some of out the jug and see what it looks like.

I agree its very odd, esp because i have driven the truck since putting the van hose on. prolly 30 miles in total with no issue, and then this randomly happens.

leaving work in a few, will see what its like on the way home.

well I cannot get the truck to repeat this.

Friday after work i pulled fuel out of the 5 gallon jug, and drained my water separator. no issues with the fuel its clean as could be.

Drove the truck about 60 miles on saturday. no issues, even did a few quick full throttle pulls at 25k rail and no issues.
