truck is eating belts.....?

i noticed that my belt was missing a lip off the front, so i replaced it yesterday. walked out to my truck this morning and noticed something hanging from under it. popped the hood and my brand new belt is just like tho old one was. missing two lips. any idea whats causing my truck to chew these belts up? :confused: thanks for any help.

make sure everything is aligned, sometimes the power steering pump likes to back off the shaft. Check the idler pulley also. If tensioner is jumping real fast with the belt on its junk. Take the belt off and spin the tensioner and idler and see if the bearings are bad. that might help also.

Yep, alignment of pulleys or idler pulley/bearing is shot.. IIRC there around 20 bucks for the pulley and the 2 share the same part # if you want to be proactive and change them both out at the same time..
