Truck hazes white at idle

Balance rates are all 2.0 or better and cooling system isn't building pressure. Any ideas? I went on a road trip to Montana and maybe wondering if I got some bad diesel along the way?

Gonna have to pick up the stuff to do it. Seems like it's fuel though and it's been puffing at start up

Any ideas if your injectors can take a dump and balance rates be good? It drives completely normal, just puffs a soot cloud at start up and hazes at idle like I mentioned.

Well took it to the dealer today and theyre going to check all the necessary stuff to see if the injectors are going out and hopefully warranty them if they are. If not I may be looking for an LLY complete motor.

Did you run that tank out of fuel yet? Sounds like injectors are worn and not seating and leaking a little fuel by. My friends truck did this but it showed up on the balance rates as he had just over -4. Just that one made his smoke at idle and puff at start up.

Yes Ive ran through multiple tanks of fuel. Dropped it off at 9:30, the dealer has had my truck all day and I called at 3:30 only to find out if they had started yet and they hadnt. Service writer said they might not get to it today then never called me back. So Im assuming either they havent looked at it or they arent going to warranty it.

My Dad's '02 has been doing the same thing:(

Balance rates are within spec...

Strange stuff. It smells like fuel too so I'm not sure. Maybe return rates will tell something. Strange thing is I checked my balance rates today and they were different. They were all + or - .5 or so. If I can't find anything I guess I'll just drive it until it breaks.

I don't know if this helps or not...my truck had the same symptoms and GM replaced them under warranty. I had a couple threads discussing the symptoms, rates, and the testing procedure...the rates and cutoff numbers on the rail pressure escapes me now, but I can dig up the printout if it helps.

Good luck with it Jordan.

My 02 is doing the exact same thing. Not making oil, no pressure in the cooling system, starts and runs fine, no weird noises and mpg's all seem in check?? I shut my injectors off one by one and the tiny bit of smoke never cleared. damn LB7's, I just know its an injector issue, and im too scared to do a compression test. So I too will just drive it till it breaks.

Were your balance rates alright white tail? It does help if you could russel them up. I know that it must be my injectors but Im just worried theyll say "Oh no we checked it out must be something else maybe a turbo well sell you one for $1600" Funny to see all of these coming out of the woodwork with atypical signs of what seems to be injector failure.

Try raising your rail pressure with DVT tool at idle. See is haze goes away

I have done two LB7 lately that had haze at warm idle but everything checked out great. Raised pressure to 6500 and bumped timing from -3. to -1.

Worked great.;)

What would that tell me John? Or is that just how you fixed it and why would it just start doing it out of nowhere?

Here are the results...all was done with a Tech II...

Desired Rail Pressure 160.0 MPa...Actual 150.9 MPa = Failed

Balance Rates *in Drive

1...-1.3 mm3
3...0.8
5...0.1
7...-1.0

2...-0.0 mm3
4...2.8
6...0.5
8...-1.6

So yours basically failed to hold rail psi but its balance rates were fine. Im wondering if thats what the problem is for mine. Also could this be a bad CP3 if its not supplying enough fuel at idle?
