My programmer arrived yesterday (Thanks Kat) and I just had to try it out. I went conservative and just loaded the LBZ Tune 2, and a 120 MPH speed limiter. I have been driving it pretty easy, no full throttle runs yet. At part throttle it seems a little soft at slow speeds, but the mid range pull is awesome. I tried a 3/4 throttle 6 to 5 kickdown, and it pulled very well up to 170 km/h before I got out of it. Torque converter shuddered a little bit, but it wasn't learned yet. It was also pretty quiet this morning starting it at -10C not plugged in. Is the 90 HP tune safe at colder temperatures? So far I am pleased, and I will be doing the airbox mod, and some much needed maintenance before I push it any harder. Thanks again. :)

I will make you want to do your transmission right away.:D

That is where I have stopped for now, since I can't afford to rebuild just yet.

Is the PPE 90 HP tune any harder on the motor than the stock tune when warming it up in the morning? I noticed it's been pretty quiet at temps as low as -10C. Is it causing any damage, I wouldn't think so because the most RPM it sees is 1200 on high idle. I'm probably just worrying about nothing. Played around a bit more today, outside temp was about 0C and I had the winter front on. Motor didn't go over 100C/210F on the gauge. The motor also seems quieter than stock at a warm idle. So far so good.

My first tank with the 90 hp tune I got 18 mpg. I did not add Stanadyne to this tank. This includes 2 hours idle time and about 410 highway kilometers. Hand calculated. I'm very pleased.

I just did the PPE Airbox Mod that came with the programmer, and changed to a fresh air filter. Seems to have helped a little bit when passing on the highway.

I filled up today and ended up with 20 mpg. I have the PPE on 90, and the airbox mod with a fresh air filter. That's with about 2 hours of idle time over 4 days. My DIC said I was getting 22.5 mpg, so it's a little bit off.

I thought you were using EFI Dan??

Good to hear on the mileage. You should make a trip south to test it some more the first week of may and check out Simon's race truck!!

I was thinking EFI originally, but I don't have the smarts to be playing around just yet. I will probably go EFI in the future though when the truck gets a little more modified. Right now I'm trying to scrape some pennies together for a trans. I may have a chance to come out May 2nd or 3rd, depends what my boss has to say, I'm on call. Are you guys in Red Deer? I would really like to see the truck.

Yup we are in Red Deer but the truck is in Lacombe at MPL's shop-staying dry and warm.
If you get down the 2nd or 3rd, it may even be running. I think we are planning to leave for Cali shortly after that.

What tranny are you going with? Please tell me it's not going to be an NADP one. I'm sure Ted can hook you up with an SC!!

I PM'ed Ted about a SC IV with a 1058 converter. Hopefully sometime in the next few months when I get some cash together. My truck could use a good run to Lacombe, would it be cool to bring my dad? I'm sure he'd like to see it too. I'll try for Saturday the 3rd.

Google is your friend Dan. J/K!
Ya I get back to the land of fast food restaurants and normal shoes on the 29th of April. I'll probably be there that day scrambling to get the truck ready for Cali.
It's real simple to find. If you have Ted's number give him a call when you get close-he will walk you through it. Or I can.
