Is this a 5 speed or a 6 speed? The serial number is torn off.

I have someone upset with me and I would like to know ASAP.

that looks like a 6 speed converter but its hard to tell. Can you please get a shot of the side of the trans where the shift linkage is?

5 speed..... BECAUSE.... 6 speeds have internal nsbu switch and 5 speeds are on the outside

unless it has an aftermarket valve body and tcm...

Looking at the plug on the NSBU...

I thought the 01-02 models had that big single connection and then 03+ until the six speed had 2 smaller connections.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's an older tranny than you were told.

Other way around. The 01-03 had the 2 plugs like the 4L60E and 4L80E used, and 04+ used the large single plug.

My early 04 LB7 has the NSBU with two plugs on it. Did they change over to the single plug when they switched to the LLY engine mid build year 04?

It was a mid year switch as some LB7's got the single plug switch, but for the most part i believe it was a LLY switch. I believe they went to the single plug switch when they added in the G solonoid.
