I just got done changing my trans fluid, I did not do the HOOT method as it was dark and cold outside. I also changed the spin on. I was quite happy to notice that the fluid I drained out was just as clean as the fluid going in and smelled the same. I also drained out close to the same amount that went in. I now have a mix of DEX VI and Amsoil Torque Drive ATF. The truck has 49 000 km (30 625mi). I have run the Bully Dog Power Pup on the 70 hp setting, and the PPE on the 160 hp setting. The trans has never been limped.
My question is would I be able to get away with just a Transgo Jr and a Suncoast 1057 converter? My goal is to run high 13's next year. Do you guys think this will hold? Any help you can give me will be much appreciated. Sorry for the long post. Thanks. :)

It's a good start Dan. That's all I have in my truck right now and I run low 13's. The tranny seems to be holding together still to-for some reason.......

And you're running 35's too. I will probably upgrade to an SC IV later, but I was hoping this would help me out for the time being. Thanks Dale. :)
Is the 1057 still available?

What would be a better converter for me? The 1057 or the 1058? The truck is daily driven. Some stop and go traffic. Maybe occasional racing. Cruising speed is usually around 110-130 km/h (70-80 mph). The truck is usually unloaded. The PPE will be on the 225 setting with a stock turbo. Later in the future I plan to upgrade to a full SC IV, and a larger turbo though. Thanks. :)

1058 would work well for ya Dan IMO.
1057 is discontinued and if you find one - it's big bucks. I know where there is one but be damned if the guy will sell it to me.

I had a ML, 1058 and now a 1054. I like the 1054 more than the 1058 because it seems tighter imo, Both are good converters. The ML was also nice and iirc it is pretty close to a 1057. I liked the smoother lockup on the ML compared to the 2 SC converters. I would go with a ML or a 1054:D

Bringing this one back. :)
I have been watching how my trans has been behaving lately. Cruising down the road at 70 mph, unloaded, with an outside temp of about 70F my trans temp is sitting at about 155F according to the factory gauge. It runs that warm most of the time now, and it gets to that temperature a bit faster than when it was new. Shifting seems a little inconsistant. Sometimes it will click the shifts off nice and quick, other times it will lag for maybe a couple of seconds at most. Rolling into it on the highway it doesn't seem like it "grabs" like it used to. It has also downshifted very hard a couple of times when passing on the highway with 3/4 or more throttle, hard enough chatter the back tires for a second. Then it will quickly upshift and bog the motor. The trans has about 37 000 miles on it, and I have been running the PPE 160 since last summer. The trans has never benn limped. (Knocks On Wood:D)
My plan is to change the fluid again (Amsoil Torque Drive), change the spin on and sump filters, add a Transgo Jr, deep pan, and non leaky trans lines. I will also change my driving style since I'm short on cash and can't afford to blow it up right now. I am mostly curious if the Transgo will put more stress on my clutches causing the trans to limp easier. I'm probably totally out to lunch on this, but would appreciate the help. Thanks guys for the help.

Install the Transgo. It will help the Alli. There is no help for you though.:baby::D

Maybe we need to make a group buy on transmissions Dan!:D

FWIW, I put my trans-go in a couple hundred miles after I installed the ATS 5-star converter and the difference was astounding-firmer shifts, quicker shifts, all in all it was just better. For the couple hundred bucks it costs to get it thrown it, I reccomend it to EVERYONE. Even those running stock tuning or small tunes. Let me know if you are getting Ted to do it and if I'm around when you come down I'll meet up with ya!

I planned on installing the parts myself. But I will probably order from Ted. I may have to drive down and pick the stuff up. I'll let you know. :)

Edit: But I want a built trans so damn bad.
