I'm planning on starting my drag truck project this October (barring a disaster), bu I've had mixed emotions about which trans to use, I just bought a complete LB7 engine($200 
), already have a quick change rearend. I'm just not sure on which trans. I'm not sure if the Allison is the way I want to go, it'll be light, shooting for right around 2300lbs, and it will see just as much street duty as it will strip, hence the quick change rear.
I can get a 47RE for basically free and from what I understand you can put a dumb valve body in it to more or less make it a 47RH. Just don't like the price tag on building one of those with all the billet shafts.
You guys have any opinions on which would be a good choice? I'm not real up to date on the 4L80 stuff so any info on them is useful.
