trans temp hot?

Does anyone know what temp trans is supposed to be at. Normally runs at a little over 100 degrees. But this weekend i pulled the tioga pass (10,000 ft) going 65mph w no trlr it got up to 200 degrees and the electric fans kicked on the whole time. Is that normal? The guage i assume is in the left hand side of the dash.

That's normal. This time of year I am at 180-200 in both of my trucks towing. Seems like 100 over ambient temp is normal.

If I was pulling a big trlr would it stay the same? Could I put a bigger trans coolr

A Mike L trans cooler will help a lot, especially if you tow heavy.

Hell 200 is just getting warm! Got another 40 degrees to play with! If you run in T/H I don't see a reason why trans temp would ever get hotter than what you saw, on a normal day.
