Truck is an 03' with a stage 4 suncoast, deep pan, and Amsoil syn. in it just changed out it the last couple thousand miles. My dash has been having the common problem with none of the guages working. When you start it they might come on right away or it could be 2,10, or 20 minutes before they start working.
My wife took my 16' bumper pull trailer to get a little lumber for some horse fencing and she always takes it easy while driving and she didnt have very much weight behind her either. The dash wasnt working until she pulled into our driveway and when it came on it said the tranny was hot 300*. So she shut it down since she was home. I had my dad check the fluid and then take it to the dealer last Saturday so they could finally fix the dash and check out the tranny and it was fine for him.
The dealer looked it over, couldnt find anything, drove it for 20 minutes and it never got warm. Then my wife leaves Thursday for a horse show pulling her gooseneck trailer thats maybe 24' w/ a couple horses and drove for 1-1.5 hours there with no issues. She's heading home today and calls me telling me that its saying its hot again and showing 300*. I dont think it was in limp mode because the check engine light wasnt on. She pulled over and let it run for awhile until the temp started to fall then I told her to shut it off and restart it see what it does and try driving the rest of the way home.
After she restarted it everything was fine. The temp came down to 200* and was good for the rest of the way home which was about 1 hour or so.
Now I dont think that it ever actually got that hot, I think there is a glitch in the wiring somewhere and the temp really is just fine. What do you guys think?
Oh and while all this is going on she is in MI and I'm at work in PA trying to drive through downtown Pittsburgh talking to her on the phone trying to figure this out.
